Your cycle as a season

We use the seasons to mirror the four phases of the menstrual cycle because they offer a natural, intuitive way to understand how our energy, emotions, and needs shift throughout the month.

Just like the year moves through Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, your cycle isn’t a straight line — it has its own rhythm of rest, growth, bloom, and retreat.

Each phase brings a change in energy, mood, and needs. By tuning into these shifts, you can navigate them with more clarity and give others a simple way to respond with care.

Winter (Menstruation)

This is a time for stillness, reflection, and retreat. Energy is at its lowest; your body is working hard behind the scenes. It’s common to feel more sensitive, tired, or withdrawn.

Think: slow mornings, saying no without guilt, curling up under a blanket with a hot drink. Maybe it’s a night off plans, or simply being quiet without needing to explain why.

Your Mood Board could help you wordlessly express that you need Physical Comfort because you’re suffering from Bloating and Cramps.

Spring (Follicular)

As this phase begins, your energy starts to lift. You may feel clearer, more optimistic, or ready to take on new things. It’s a time of gentle momentum and curiosity.

You might start that project you were putting off or finally message your mates about brunch. You’re not full throttle yet, but momentum is building.

Although you're starting to feel better your Mood Board could help you wordlessly express: “I need Rest and Patience.”

Summer (Ovulation)

This is your peak energy phase. Communication flows, confidence is high, and you may feel more socially open or physically connected. It's your most expressive season.

You could be hosting, leading, laughing louder. Or maybe it’s just having more capacity to give to others.

Even at your peak you may still use the Mood Board to show you need Reassurance, especially if you’re  putting yourself out there socially or creatively. Or maybe you need Space to shine

Autumn (Luteal)

As you move toward the end of your cycle, things begin to slow down. Emotions may sharpen and you become more aware of what’s too much. Boundaries matter, comfort matters; you may want fewer inputs and more space to feel things through.

You’re still capable, but the filter is on: small talk might drain, and honesty might deepen.

Your Mood Board might show Overwhelm and Anxiety, whilst asking for Reassurance.
